i would like to point to our international courses in March, April and October 2017, which will be held in english.
We are going to start in March with a lecture from Mary Laqua and Sarah B. Johnson:
Subject: New Horizons in Music TherapyFrom Psychosocial-based Music Therapy to Neurologic Music Therapy (NMT) - A Paradigm Shift. This lecture – given in English – will offer initial insight into the neuroscience-based model of music therapy developed in USA known as Neurologic Music Therapy (NMT). This research-based model consists of standardized clinical techniques, therapeutic mechanisms and creative interventions within three therapeutic domains: sensorimotor, speech and language, and cognition. The two presenters have extensive training and clinical expertise in the field of NMT specially in neurorehabilitation and geriatric nursing home care.2 credit points approved by DMtG. 17FF200 · Saal · 10,– €. One evening · Fr. 10.3.2017, 20.00–21.30On the following two days both speakers will offer a course:Music as a Driving Force in TherapyDeveloping your clinical skills within the framework of Neurologic Music Therapy (NMT). This weekend we will explore the theoretical background and clinical application of NMT-based techniques through video presentations with clients in neurorehabilitation and geriatric nursing home facilities. Several techniques will be demonstrated and practiced. Emphasis will be placed on the facilitating (driving) use of music in therapy and the role of the music therapist as musician, therapist and clinical scientist. How does the use of music and the application of therapeutic intervention techniques vary in this model, as compared to that of a psychotherapeutic approach? Through an in-depth examination of the development of NMT, its underlying concepts and intervention techniques, trained music therapists will be given the opportunity to reflect upon this question as well as their own clinical skills.
